Misalignment signal strength
What your responses may signal

This is not a full assessment. It is a directional signal based on your responses. A deeper R180 assessment can help map the values, blockers, and team patterns behind these signals.

What is the Team Alignment Diagnostic?

The Team Alignment Diagnostic is a free, 2-minute self-assessment for HR leaders, founders, and leadership teams. It surfaces early signals of behavioral misalignment: the patterns that often drive disengagement, hiring misfires, and execution gaps before they show up in retention metrics.

Unlike a full values or culture assessment, this diagnostic is directional. Six questions map your responses across engagement, hiring fit, conflict, leadership clarity, development impact, and lived versus stated values, then return a risk score with specific signals to watch.

How to Use This Tool

  1. Start the diagnostic and answer each question based on what you actually see on your team, not what you hope is true.
  2. Complete all 6 questions. Each one takes about 20 seconds.
  3. Enter your work email to unlock your alignment risk score and signal breakdown.
  4. Share the report with your leadership team, or book a free clarity call if you want a deeper read on the patterns behind your score.

What the Diagnostic Score Measures

Your misalignment signal strength is calculated from six behavioral indicators:

  • Disengagement among high performers despite competitive conditions.
  • Strong hires who underperformed once in the role.
  • Conflict driven by priorities and working styles rather than skill gaps.
  • Leadership divergence on what success looks like.
  • Development efforts that fail to create lasting behavioral change.
  • Gaps between stated organizational values and day-to-day decisions.

Individually, any one of these can have an ordinary explanation. Together, they're the pattern R180's model is built to catch early, before they show up in exit interviews or a failed quarter.

What Most HR Tools Miss

Most of the tools HR teams already use weren't built to catch this. Personality assessments describe how someone behaves under normal conditions. Engagement surveys capture how people feel in the moment. Both are useful, but neither one asks what people actually value or whether that lines up with the role, the team, and the way the organization actually operates.

That gap has a cost. Gallup's State of the Global Workplace found that roughly 80% of employees are disengaged at work, quietly reducing productivity long before it shows up as attrition. A single bad executive hire can cost a company an estimated $240K once you account for lost productivity, severance, and rehiring (CareerBuilder). Organizations where people's personal values genuinely match the work see higher retention, a gap Deloitte's Global Marketing Trends research puts at around 40%.

The Team Alignment Diagnostic won't fix any of that on its own. What it does is give you a fast, low-effort way to check whether these patterns are present on your team right now, before you invest in a deeper assessment, a hiring overhaul, or a culture initiative aimed at the wrong problem.

What Your Score Means

  • Well Aligned: The behavioral patterns most associated with misalignment aren't prominent right now. Worth noting: even well-aligned teams carry blockers that don't surface until they become a problem.
  • Early Misalignment Signals: Several early-stage patterns are present. These tend to be manageable at this stage, but they typically accelerate into retention and hiring problems if left unaddressed.
  • Strong Misalignment Signals: Multiple signals point to deeper misalignment, often the kind that conventional fixes, like a new perk, a training program, or a reorg, don't resolve because they treat a symptom rather than the underlying cause.

Your score is a directional signal. It's designed to tell you where to look first, not to replace a proper assessment.

Where to Go From Here

If your results point to real misalignment, or you'd just like a second opinion on what you're seeing, talk to us. It's free, confidential, and there's no obligation. Share a bit about your team, and an R180 consultant will review your responses and reach out to set up a call.

On that call, you'll get a preliminary read on what's likely driving the misalignment. If it looks like a good fit, we'll walk you through how a full R180 assessment would work from there.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. The diagnostic is free to use. Enter a work email to view your score; there is no subscription required.

About 2 minutes. It's six questions, each with three answer options, and most people answer each one in about 20 seconds.

No. R180's full assessment is a 30-minute process that maps each participant against four core value clusters and produces individual Value Profiles. The diagnostic is a much shorter, team-level directional read designed to flag whether misalignment is likely present, not to replace the full assessment.

HR leaders, founders, and leadership teams who are noticing friction, disengagement, or hiring misses and want a fast way to check whether it points to a deeper alignment issue before deciding what to do about it.

Answer with a specific team in mind, whether that's a department, a leadership group, or the company as a whole if it's small. The signals are more accurate when you're thinking about a specific group of people rather than answering in the abstract.
